Jump

The whooshing sound of the wind was deafening. Made ears keep popping. Blew hair around viciously. Scratched at skin and made tips of noses and ears red, cold and numb

Looking down there are jagged rock edges. Some jutting out more than others. Some with weeds sprouting out of the cracks in the rocks.

Below that the aggressive waves smooth out the bottom of the cliff. A frothy white foam briefly caresses the rocks before it glides back into the blue. Looking a little further out though, the sea is nothing but a picturesque stillness.

You must all be crazy to think it was a good idea to jump from here. You’ve all heard the horror stories. Used them multiple times to convince yourselves that this was a bad idea. But ultimately you’ve made the decision that you have to do something reckless at least once. And this definitely counts.

One of you boldly makes the decision to go first and there is a loud scream as they make their descent. The scream morphs into a splashing sound and they have hit water. Not rocks. So another follows. And another. Your turn.

Close your eyes. Deep breath. ‘Fuck it’.
