December Playlist

December Playlist

Hi, Hey, Hello!

I remembered the other day that I said I might do another one of these way back in the summer and time apparently got away from me so I here I am in December (what the actual though?) doing just that. So on with it I guess…

1) Sugar Plum- Pentatonix

Opening with a Christmas tune because well it’s December and they are finally allowed. (I have confused myself with this early festive spirit on my part because I am usually Queen of the Grinches over here). Virtually everything that comes out of Pentatonix’s mouths I fall a little bit in love (I think there is a pun there and I think it is intended) and this is no exception. It is just essentially Christmas to me bundled up in less than 3 minutes and I love it. (Their whole Christmas album is pretty stellar it has to be said)

2) Say You Love Me – Jessie Ware

I am just full on in love with this song and I cannot sing its praises enough. I really don’t have much else to say about it other than declare my love for it a bit more. Full on obsessed.

3) Stockholm Syndrome – One Direction

It puts me in a good mood and makes me want to dance or scream or shout…or…I don’t know. I love it. Pretty much all I could want from a song.

4) Big Girls Cry – Sia

Sia is back again because she is fantastic and 1000 Forms of Fear is one of the best albums I have bought this year. If I had to pick a favourite it would be this because it was just on repeat for hours when I first heard it, but there are so many good songs on the album outside of Chandelier.

5) American Beauty/American Psycho – Fall Out Boy

I am so in love with this band it hurts sometimes. They have these song lyrics that are so fudging clever sometimes that I almost have to stop what I am doing just to re-listen to it and bask in their incredible manipulation of the English language. I was an instant fan of Centuries when it came out and it was the same with this as well. I am so ready for more new stuff.

6) Blank Space – Taylor Swift

This song crept up on me. I was pretty indifferent to it and then one day it was the oooonnnnnlllllyyyyyy thing in my head and so I embraced it. I feel that I will at one point reach the stage where I need some distance from it (repeat is a blessing and a curse), but for now I’m here for it.

7) Beautiful War – Kings of Leon

At some point over the years I forgot how much I loved Kings of Leon (Only By The Night is like one of my favourite albums ever) and then I fell into a Youtube vortex not that long ago and clicked on this song and fell straight back in love. I have annoyed many a person singing this song (mainly because I can’t really sing) and it has somehow become a part of every playlist that I use for the purpose of being productive because it provides the break that I ‘need’ so that I can just bask in the amazingness of it.

8) Come Together – The Beatles

Fully aware that this is an oldie but it is a classic and one of my favourites. Not gonna lie I kind of forget about it sometimes but it was on the X Factor last weekend so I remembered it. It was on repeat back in May when I was revising and stuff but then I took a step back from it because listening to it gave me flashbacks and made me feel a bit guilty about not doing work. That flashback didn’t happen at the weekend so it’s back with a vengeance.

9) XO – Beyonce

All the Beyonce album videos went up recently on Youtube so I have spent a lot of time listening to it again because I was one of the many who went a bit mad over it when it came out at the end of last year. I like a fair amount of the songs on there, especially when they soundtrack anytime that I am getting ready for something, but I always come back to this one. There is something about it that just puts me in a really good mood and has me smiling like a loon.

10) The Hanging Tree – Mockingjay soundtrack (James Newton Howard)

I have yet to see this film (why I don’t know, but I digress), but I came across this on Tumblr and had to listen to it. It is so haunting and Jennifer Lawerence’s voice has something to do with that as well as the music. The music, my gosh there are probably not enough words for me to describe how much I love the music, and if there were I would not be able to collect my thoughts enough to write them down and be coherent. The last minute is just pure music and it gave me chills the first time I heard it. Like actual chills and that hardly ever happens to me. And it happens every single time I listen to it. It is a beautiful, beautiful piece of music, I can’t stress that enough. Just give it a listen.

I actually stopped at 10 this time, although there are obviously soooo many more songs that I could stick on this list because there are a lot of songs in my life right now. I may make this a monthly thing, or might not it depends on whether I a) remember that I said I would do that and b) I can continually come up with 10 different songs every month because I just listen to the same songs a lot when I find stuff I love.

But regardless of whether this becomes a thing, see you next week!
