Inside the Actor’s Studio.

Hi, Hey, Hello!

This is a product of kind of an amalgamation of things. The first being that I am working through the various parts of Blogging 101 that I missed over the past month for various reasons. And secondly it’s another chance to get to know me a little bit. This is in response to this daily prompt, because it seemed a bit of fun.

1) What is your favourite word?

The first one that came into my head was ‘plethora’. I find it very satisfying to say and I try to use it as much as possible (obviously in the right context). I like most onomatopoeic words as well, I am fascinated by how they work. But I find a new word to love every day.

2) What is your least favourite word?

Moist. I can’t even say it. Honestly cannot even say it. If there is ever a situation where I have to I just trail off and leave a blank space where the word should be and generally if I know the people I am with they get what I am trying to say. I almost can’t even hear it, I recoil slightly, my best friend has been known to say it around me just to watch me react.

3) What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Books. Songs. Poetry. Jokes. Just Words. If you can do something with words I am yours. Even if it the stupidest joke ever but I do that cackling laugh of mine that I almost can’t stand. Or a beautifully crafted sentence. Books that create perfect worlds, even when they a similar to our own, that you have to get immersed in. Can get lost in for hours and not even realise. And not be sorry because that author was capturing your imagination and taking you somewhere special and new, so it’s worth it. It is always worth it. Song lyrics get me the most. That one line in a song that just stands out on its own and you have to rewind the song when you miss it because for the five or so seconds that it passes through you have to bask in it. Have to repeat them and remember them and keep a vault of all your favourites in your memory because they resonate and they mean something. And sometimes you don’t even know why they resonate and then one day you do and everything clicks and you see it in a new light and it’s beautiful.

So yeah…words.

4) What turns you off?

Ignorance.

5) What is your favourite curse word?

Motherfucker. Again it’s satisfying to say, and as swear words go it is the one that I use the least so it always carries a bit of weight to it when I say it which I quite like.

6) What sound or noise do you love?

The sound of rain against rooftops or windows during the day (it keeps me up at night, which is weird because I find the sound soothing when I’m awake).

7) What sound or noise do you hate?

If I had seen this the other day I would have said something like popping gum, then I realised that I am a culprit of that and as a consequence it doesn’t actually bother me that much. Loud chewing is a bit grating actually and so is unnecessary talking when comfortable silence will do. And big strikes of lightening that make a crackling noise as they break through the sky scare me a bit, so I’m not a huge fan of that noise.

8) What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

I am currently unemployed so anything…No but it in all seriousness I quite like the idea of being a chef or a baker but I don’t think I have the skill or the patience to work in a professional kitchen. Actually patience isn’t really my issue, more I think it would stress me right out and I am easily stressed, so maybe not for me.

9) What profession would you not like to do?

I am awful at anything that involves maths, so accounting/banking. And I imagine I would be terrible at anything that involved construction or something because I am not really very good at schematics or building or things, unless it is with Lego…

10) If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

‘There’s free food.’

Parentheses count: 3. See you on Wednesday!
