Letters to Autumn 18

Letters to Autumn 18

Dear Autumn,

There is something highly satisfying about having a productive Saturday, even if that productivity just involves having a clear out of the Sky+ planner.

Something about realising just how many episodes have backed up over time as life leads you in different directions and having a good old binge watch. Fully immersing yourself in this fictitious, well loved world again and getting reacquainted with the characters that you love or hate or love to hate and getting lost all over again. Slipping from episode to episode seamlessly and watch the plot build up at a rapid pace and then something a little bit akin to feeling smug when you know that you don’t have to wait a week to find out what the conclusion is.

Then there is something quite fun about pushing the delete button and watching space clear up because it alludes to productivity. (I mean there are drawbacks to binge watching something, but I’m gonna gloss over those right now.)

This feeling of productivity was made all the better by the fact that I also actually had quite a productive late morning/early Saturday afternoon and so I had no reason to feel even remotely guilty that I had thrown on a pair of jogging bottoms and set up shop on my sofa with the TV up loud and Orphan Black on at 15:30 (and ordered a pizza for my dinner).

So it was a feeling of double productivity (and at this point that has stopped seeming like a real word) and that can do wonders to a mood…

Sophie, twenty-something, avid reader, writer, really good at watching whole seasons of TV shows in one weekend and using 10 words where 5 will do, overzealous user of the ellipsis and parentheses, starts too many sentences with ‘and’ and ‘so’, living in a continual state of Wanderlust.
