Letters to Spring 7

Dear Spring,

I got a life last night after work. A life that didn’t involve stretching my way through a barre class. It involved going to a gig.

London Grammar to be specific.

It was a great night. It was a night that reminded me of a few things. One that I really fucking love London Grammar and two that there is always something incredible about live music.

It’s like I always forget that in between my seeing concerts. Maybe I put a block on it because I would then spend a lot of money that I do not have on concert tickets…

But it’s one of the best things ever.

The buzz in the room as people start filing in and make their way through crowds. The tech guys on stage making sure everything is working and finding something weirdly fascinating about a soundcheck. That moment where everything goes quiet because you know the act is about to come on stage. The shared experience of being in a room full of people who love the act that is on that stage. There is just something about the whole thing.

Hearing your favourite songs being sung live and actually getting to see them sing the songs. Getting to see them totally nailing it on the stage. Going through that whole encore charade. Then dealing with the house lights actually going up and knowing that it’s over and joining the swarms as you  file out, moving at a slight snails pace and basking in the afterglow.

I’ve never left a gig without feeling some kind of euphoria. They just make me feel good. They remind me why I love music so much in the first place, and why it is a huge part of my life. I love getting the chance to do that, to fall back in love with music.
