Hi, Hey, Hello!
Can we talk about how damn happy I am that the first of these playlists actually falls on the last Sunday of the month. And also thus concludes my birthday month…I envy those who have summer birthdays because all my excitement comes within a month of itself.
Bring on February though…and also that extra day.
Back to why I am here:
1) Stevie Knows – Olly Murs
First of all, yes to paying homage to Stevie Wonder. Second of all, this is a total feel good song. And has slowly become mine over the past few weeks to be honest. Olly Murs has done it again.
2) Where Do We Go – Lion Babe
This makes me want to find a disco ball and somehow lose a whole night of my life in a really fantastic fashion.
3) Borrowed Time – Frances
I said in October that I was really glad to have Frances’ music be on my radar and this snog has just reconfirmed it to me. So excited to see what else she brings out this year.
4) Army – Ellie Goulding
There should be more songs about best friends. That’s all I got. It’s a great song sung beautifully.
5) I Know – Tom Odell
Why is Tom Odell so underrated in my life, by me? I don’t think I have disliked a song he has done and yet he is not, for some highly bizarre reason, one of my go to artists when I get into those music slumps, as I am prone to do. I heard this song on the radio the other day, so here it is mid-way through my list this month.
6) 7 Years – Lukas Graham
Part of me feels like this is gonna be one of those songs that sort of ends up everywhere without you really noticing it until suddenly you really do. Not necessarily a bad thing.
7) Bloodsport – Raleigh Ritchie
This is actually one of those songs. I heard it before Christmas and was relatively indifferent to it. And this month I am hearing it sooooo much everywhere I go (and about 4/5 times a day at work). It’s a great song though, so it’s not hard to hear it all the time.
8) I’m Yours – Alessia Cara
The whole Four Pink Walls EP is amazing, but the first time I heard this song (while I was waiting for my friend so we could go see Star Wars together if you wanted to know that) it was like time stopped or something equally dramatic. You know when you find those songs that just get you. This is it for me. Along with Here, but we’ve already had that revelation on here.
9) Once and For All – Newsies
I have a bit of a revival in my life with this show. Not gonna lie I had forgotten that it existed for a long time and then I kind of never made it past Santa Fe and Seize the Day. Until this month when the whole OCR re-entered my life. What a way to end a show (plus, ya know, Jeremy Jordan…)
10) What I was Born to Do – Bring It On
Confession time, I wrote the post that is around this number earlier on in the week because I kinda figured I had heard all the songs that were gonna shape my month already. Well I was wrong, because this song has been pretty much been on repeat for the past few days. Therefore it is my late, almost last entry.
11) Let’s Dance – David Bowie
And I leave you with this.
Parentheses count: 3. See you tomorrow!
