March Playlist

Hi, Hey, Hello!

So, somehow it is that time of month again. As I mentioned in my earlier blog post I totally forgot that today was the last Sunday of the month. Now without any further delay here is my March playlist:

1) Four Five Seconds – Rihanna, Kayne West and Paul McCartney

There are three version of this song hence why it is not stylised as all one word. I initially didn’t think all that much of this song, but the more I heard the more I loved it. James Bay’s cover is amazing (hi again Live Lounge) and then I stumbled across Astrid’s version one day and needless to say I loved that too.

2) Hole in My Heart – Luke Friend

I was just casually listening to Radio 1 a couple of weeks ago when I first heard this and quite liked it, so I gave it another listen a few days after that and yeah I definitely do like it. Not gonna lie I kinda wanted Luke to win when he was X Factor a couple of years ago because he did the kind of music that I always veer towards and it is showed with this song.

3) Sweater Weather – The Neighbourhood

Again two different versions. The Max/Alyson cover was my way into this song because I ended up spending  a lot of time on Kurt Hugo Schneider’s YouTube channel and it was the most recent upload at the time. Naturally that led me to check out the original and then led me to continue on to listen to a lot of The Neighbourhood, it was time well spent.

4) I’ll Make a Man of You – Mulan soundtrack

My dad put it on Mulan a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with it all over again as a film (tbh this happens almost every time I watch a Disney film after some distance from it). This song is just everything that I love about Disney and also the beginning is a sure fire way to make me happy because it’s just so good.

5) Someone New – Hozier

Natalie Dormer is in the video. That’s all…

I am totally joking, that is an added bonus. I remember the first time I listened to this song I thought ‘HA I so do that.’ Because seriously I do, just a little bit. I’m not gonna say it’s my fave song off the album because I honestly couldn’t pick one, but it is definitely one I return to a lot.

6) Rocket – Beyonce

This song would. Not. Leave.  My. Head. For. Days. I don’t know why. It is not necessarily the best song to have in your head when you have a tendency to sing the odd lyric from songs out loud. There are worst songs to have in your head though than this one.

7) Warriors – Imagine Dragons

I got stuck in a long queue in Tesco (my own fault tbh, it was lunch time it was never gonna be anything but a nightmare.) Just when I felt like I was losing the will to wait and also increasingly losing my appetite this song came on. It was the first time I heard it and it instantly improved my mood and made the whole waiting thing less unbearable, especially because while I was listening to it I got to a check out and the hell of there.

8) Last Night – The Vamps

The drum solo at the beginning of this. That’s why this is here.

Not totally true, but it is a contributing factor. It’s just a good song (that I may or may be able to relate to…) that you can’t help but dance to and the like.

9) Dream – Imagine Dragons

Guess who got the new Imagine Dragons album recently? Me, the answer is me. That’s why there are two songs from them here this month. Okay, I am always more inclined to the sadder songs on albums and this is definitely one of them. The first time I heard it I was just floored by how much I kind of connected to it. There are definitely parts of my life that felt like this and I am just so in love with this song in so many ways. It’s the one that I keep going back to and I imagine I will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

10) Long Live – Taylor Swift

(Can you just pretend that this isn’t over a Harry Potter video, although if that is your thing (if you haven’t guessed it is mine but that isn’t the reason I used this video. I used it because it I know the song isn’t pitch changed) than enjoy a trip down memory lane that may or may not tug on your heartstrings)

I love this song, it’s one of my faves on Speak Now so I’m not necessarily mad at it for making a comeback. But timing is everything and the timing of the comeback is not ideal in this case, because this has not been the best week for me. However you kind of almost can’t go wrong with Taylor Swift, so regardless of the slightly poor timing, it’s hard to not sing along and also feel a bit nostalgic.

Another month’s playlist, done.

Parentheses count: 7. See you on Wednesday!
