Motivational Monday – Quotes Edition

Hi, Hey, Hello!

New week folks. Why are weekends always so short? Plus side is, next week I only do a 3 and a half day week and then I have 4 and a half days off. Thank you Easter.

Anyway onto today’s post. I’ve decided to get on board the Motivational Monday post train this week with one of my favourite things. Words.

More specifically quotes. I have a lot of quotes that I love and carry around with me in my head all the time and reel off mentally to myself when I need a little something to get me feeling inspired or motivated again. And so I thought I would collect five of my faves in one blog post.

1) If you’re going through hell, keep going – Winston Churchill

Raise your hand if you’re surprised that I am opening with this one? This is my everything quote. And I mean everything. I have written down almost everywhere that I might need it. It’s on my bedroom wall, it comprises part of my blog title. I am probably gonna stick on my desk at work at some point soon. I love it. It’s the ultimate source of inspiration to me at all points and keeps me motivated (it was especially applicable to my life during my second year at uni, because fuck I needed it then).

2) It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live – JK Rowling (through Albus Dumbledore)

This might seem like a bit of a downer, but it is kind of motivational. Well it is to me anyway. I was (and maybe to a degree still am) prone to just staying in my own head. Living in all these daydreams and these semi fantasy worlds that I was trying to create (not for reality, just always working on stories that were never gonna come to fruition). And I wasn’t really paying attention to what was going on around me. Not in a massive way, but I wasn’t really with it. I was so caught up in my own head that I was just sort of stuck there. And this quote kind of reminds me that that is incredibly pointless. So I am lot more present  and I could still do better with it (but hey introvert over here, baby steps all the way) but I am way less in my own head then I used to be. And also funnily enough a lot less anxious.

3) You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches. – Dita Von Teese

Just a nice reminder that you can’t please everyone.

4) Sometimes you’ll hold on really hard and realise there is no choice but to let go. Acceptance is a small, quiet room. – Cheryl Strayed (Tiny Beautiful Things)

This is a recent one that has resonated with me (since I finished Wild and became mildly infatuated with Strayed’s writing style) because there are so many things (maybe not that many, but enough for me to notice) that I have held onto when I probably shouldn’t have and it’s had a butterfly effect on the rest of my life. But sometimes, yeah, just make like Elsa (why is that a turn of phrase that has entered my every day vocab these days?)

5) A writer is a world trapped in a person – Victor Hugo

Sometimes it feels overwhelming because there is something in my head and I need to get it out (never at a convenient time it has to be said) and this kind of sums it up. And I like that.

And those are my current 5 fave motivational/inspirational quotes.

Do you have any particular quotes that resonate with you? Let me know, I’m obsessed with quotes and I love hearing them!
