My Little Box

My Little Box – January

Hi, Hey, Hello!

Happy my favourite day of the week (I am honestly still not sold on them, I know if I put positive Thursday vibes into the world they would probably come back and yet…) and almost the weekend!

Now, something a little bit different today because I thought well why not?

At the beginning of year I signed up for My Little Box, because monthly presents to yourself are fun and sometimes you need something to look forward to, even if it is hella materialistic. And then I decided when I realised that I had no ideas at the time that it might be a good idea to do a little review of them each month.

Well, this is the first of those.

My Little Wish Box

This month’s was My Little Wish Box and came equipped with things that could kick start a new year off all in (obviously) pretty box, which made it almost hard to actually open it because yeah a part of me just wanted to stare away. But I did, because I wanted to know what was inside.

And inside was just as pretty. There was a cute little quote card that made the box even more welcoming and I really need to figure out where to stick this quote because I need all the words surrounding me always.

Once I had finally unwrapped the bow and stripped away the quote card I was greeted with one of my favourite things in this world. Stationery. Now l most definitely do not need anymore stationery in my life, within the space of three days I acquired 3 new notebooks (hey, I had a birthday and R knows me well). Which means I probably don’t need to source any new ones anytime soon.

My Little Wish Box

This gorgeous blue number is a diary and because my usual planner is a bit too bulky to fit in my everyday bag and I really need to stop hoarding things in multiple places and just streamline my life the hell down I transferred all the things in my original planner into this one and popped it into my bag. Now instead of pondering what the hell I have planned for this blog and thinking in half formed thoughts because I am not sure when I can slot said thought into my blogging schedule I can whip out my diary with allll the plans and not just make some soon to be forgotten note on my phone. So hopefully I will be organised as a result, I already feel a little bit like it’s working and it’s only been a week since I slotted this beauty into my bag.

There was a bag within the box with a few beauty goodies underneath the notebook, but it took me a while to get to it because I can get distracted by notebooks with great ease. Anyway inside that was some shampoo and conditioner and a lip balm. The lip balm was great, it had a great scent, it was moisturising. It seemed like I had finally found a semi decent lip balm to just carry around with me everywhere…and then I lost it at the weekend. Drat!

The shampoo and conditioner are alright I guess. I have honestly only used them once since I got them (I don’t wash my hair that much, I used them the first chance I got). I am an Aussie hair care kind of gal, it took me years to get there it is gonna take me a lot to give it up. But I open to trying new things, I probably won’t be returning to this when I finish it. I mean it was pleasant. It got the job done. But it was a little thinner then I am used to and it required a lot of shampoo to get anything close to a lather (I get that it is probably psychological, but I like a lather, feels like it is getting clean) and the conditioner was fine. It was all fine. I guess at the end of the day that’s all you need, but I shall be sticking to the reassuring bubblegum of Aussie (and I have a lot of that to get through right now somehow my house is hoarding shampoo and conditioner).

This month’s box also came with some cute little bracelets in various colours with different phrases and sentiments attached to them which I am sure I will find a purpose for soon.

Finally (although it was technically right underneath the quote card) was a little magazine that attempted to set the tone for the year. Wish. Coincidentally it had a few pages dedicated to Elizabeth Gilbert and Big Magic which is in fact on my 2016 Reading Challenge list (this is currently slated to come as Book 8, because yeah I have actually figured out a small list for my next few books, it just happened one day when I was being organised). So that gave me a bit more excitement for when I do read it.

And that brings us to the end of this little review (which took longer to write than I had anticipated it to because I got distracted by Grease: Live…oops).

What did you guys think, did you like this kind of post? Have you got any monthly subscription boxes that you wait for with bated breath each month? Let me know what you think!
