September Playlist

September Playlist

Hi, Hey, Hello!

It is such a cliche thing to say, but I’m gonna say it anyway, how the hell is September almost over? What the hell?? Insert any other kind of exclamation about the passing of time that you can think of.

This month, I’m not gonna lie, I have basically listened to the same three albums on repeat. And they are three albums that I feel in love with on first listen so it’s been quite an enjoyable time in that respect. However that also means that there are 50 songs that I could pick from because I love, love, love them all. So whittling that down was a little bit of an almost impossible task for me, and then there are the few songs that have trickled into my life through the radio and this:

1) Sia – Alive

This is my opener today because holy shit it is so good. I heard it on Thursday afternoon and was totally floored by it. Then I listened to it on repeat for a lot of yesterday (I’m listening to it right now as I write this because, yeah, it’s Saturday afternoon right now). I am so obsessed with it. I mean I can’t remember the last time I haven’t loved a Sia song, but this one is sooooo good. And the last minute/90 seconds, guh. In love, yeah.

2) Lion’s Heart – Eliza and the Bear

This song kills. I heard it on the radio a couple of weeks ago or something (I actually cannot remember when exactly) and it perked my day up quite a bit. And also wouldn’t leave my head for a while (because, yes, that I remember).

3) The Wire – Haim

I am fully aware that this is like 2 or so years old but I heard for the first time this month and then I almost couldn’t stop hearing it. I am quite the fan of it.

4) On My Mind – Ellie Goulding

Not gonna lie, when I first heard this song I didn’t like it. Then I heard it about three more times and it turns out that I do like it. Very much so. And the video is just…random, but also great.

5) Castle – Halsey

And so we reach the portion of the list that is just comprised of ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’, ‘Wildheart’ and ‘Badlands’. This song coming from the last. Now as opening songs for an album go, this one is fantastic. I kind of passed over it over the first few listens because other songs stood out to me more than this one, but on the train the other day I just found this new appreciation for it. And the pressed repeat multiple times…and let it distract me (not that hard anymore to be honest) from my reading of Sense and Sensibility.

6) Dark Times – The Weeknd ft Ed Sheeran

At one point, it was at the peak of tiredness last week, I actually had the thought ‘if I could marry a song it would be this one’. That is how much I love this song. I struggle to say it is my fave of the album (Beauty Behind the Madness) but that is ONLY because at any point of any day for the past month I could say that any song is my favourite from it. This one comes with the bonus featured vocals of Ed Sheeran, which I will never say no to. The whole song is just very much right up my street.

7) FLESH – Miguel

Final on repeat album was Wildheart. I am not even sorry for this.

8) Colours – Halsey

Picking a second song was hard, but I went with this one because as I was trying to figure which one to pick I could only think of the lyrics to this one (‘dripping like a saturated sunrise’/’you’re ripped at every edge but you’re a masterpiece’ to name two of the stand outs that will not leave me alone) so I took that as a sign and here it is.

9) Real Life – The Weeknd

Again, SUCH a killer opening to an album. I am always gonna be here for anything that involves some kind of strings section and that is heavily featured in this song. And also the vocals. So incredible. Always incredible, throughout the whole album. I love his voice so much.

10) NWA – Miguel ft Kurupt

I am not gonna put my actual favourite song from this album on this list for reasons, but this one is pretty up there as one of my faves for the beat alone.

And that is another month’s playlist down, hope you enjoy!

Parentheses count: 6. See you tomorrow!
